TAKE THESE STEPS TO REDUCE YOUR RISK AND KEEP YOUR PREMIUMS DOWN

Here is a list of things you can do to reduce risk, reduce chances of having a claim and save on your insurance premiums.

  • Ensure you don’t allow your insurance to lapse. Breaks in coverage can cause your premiums to increase.
  • Install fire suppression systems and security alarms. Install a motion-detector alarm. These may reduce your commercial property insurance costs.
  • Install a UL-approved smoke detector on each floor and a carbon monoxide detector. Replace the batteries yearly.
  • Install a UL-approved dry-chemical fire extinguisher in the kitchen for grease fires. Check it periodically to make sure it’s fully charged.
  • Install dead-bolt locks on all access doors. Change your locks immediately if your keys are ever stolen.
  • Create a safe work environment. This can reduce the chances of an on-the-job injury and fewer claims means lower workers’ compensation premiums.
  • Keep walkways clear and safe.
  • Avoid having employees with poor driving records operate your business vehicles. Drivers with a good driving history will help keep rates lower.

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, your Texas Mutual clients can apply for a $1,500 safety grant

We are proud to help your clients get the safety equipment they need to keep their workers safe and prevent workplace injuries. This year, we’re giving away $2 million in safety grants as part of our commitment to create a stronger, safer Texas.

Applications open at 8 a.m. on July 27

Starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, your clients can apply for a safety grant by logging in to their Texas Mutual Online (TMO) account. Once they log in, they’ll see a banner at the top of the page that will take them to our safety grants information page. Applications will be processed in the order they are received, and the application will close when all grant funds have been allotted. We encourage policyholders to apply as soon as the application opens.

Policyholders can receive $1,500 for safety equipment

Your Texas Mutual clients can receive $1,500 to purchase ergonomic, safety, COVID-19 prevention and/or industrial hygiene equipment to reduce or eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses. Our 2021 Safety Grant Program Guide provides more information on how to apply, as well as examples of approved and unapproved items.
